Have a seat – creative ways to make dining space around a kitchen island
A dining table in the kitchen needs to be multi-functional. As well as being a place to enjoy meals together, it serves as a handy spot to put things down and as a work surface. So even the smallest of kitchens needs a dining area.
Thanks to smart new table solutions, manufacturers are managing to squeeze more usable space into fewer square metres. Solutions on show at this year’s “imm cologne” international interiors trade fair included tabletops that transform an unused space between wall and kitchen island into a bar table, and kitchen islands with panels that slide out or fold up/down to create a dining surface. The Häfele product range includes a number of mobile table solutions, which enable users to save valuable kitchen space by storing the table safely away again after dinner.
