Here come the robots: “What would you like to cook today?”
Science fiction has come to the kitchen. The big-eyed robotic personal assistant was one of the highlights at this year’s “Living Kitchen” show in Cologne. This smart kitchen assistant communicates with the user through facial expressions, gestures and language. It listens to the user and responds to questions. By networking with other wi-fi appliances, it knows whether there is enough milk in the fridge, how long the roast needs to stay in the oven, and what the weather forecast is for tomorrow.
Robots are also starting to appear in other parts of the home, even if not always with face or voice. Robotic cleaning devices for living spaces are becoming well established: self-propelled mini vacuum cleaners and handy automatic window cleaners, which will also polish your mirrors and showers until they sparkle.
